WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

We want to hear from those of you who are visiting our website and reading this blog!  We know that many of you have comments, information, stories to tell, etc. regarding meth use and abuse in our community.  Let's share it and keep our workshop discussions going via this blog!

Click on "comment" and add your thoughts and/or questions.  Then click and submit it - it's easy to do and will be a valuable conversation to be part of.  You can add a comment by a first name or as "anonymous".

Also, if any of you have spoken to any public officials regarding making pseudoephedrine a prescription drug, please share your feedback.  We want to know what you're hearing!

The web site will soon be updated and improved with lots more information plus a calendar of events.  Theere's more coming and we want YOU to stay in touch and be a part of it all.  We are going to make a difference and fix this meth problem, but it's going to take everyone's help!   WHAT DO YOU THINK?

  1. My story is not any different than anyone else who has suffered because of meth! It hurts more deeply than words can describe, knowing that someone you love and care about is killing themself. In my case that someone is my adult son, when I think back on his life it seems as if he were two people; my son before meth and my son after meth. I try to focus as much as I can on before meth, all the great joy he brought to us. If I spend too much time on after meth, I want to scream away the pain! It hurts so badly that at times I can actually feel my heart breaking! The physical and emotional pain is too much to handle at times. This will probably sound strange, however; when he was arrested it was the best thing to happen to him and myself. Some of the worrying was lifted. Sure, I do not want my child in jail or prison, but more important, I do not want him on the streets doing meth!

I also have rental property in Kosciusko County, meth has had an impact on my rental property due to meth labs in apartments. I have had to restore two units because tenants had active labs in the building, this is no easy task. You are required to pass inspection by an evironmental scientist in order for the property to be considered habitable. The testing is very costly and critical, you must clean it properly or you will not be passed. It's impossible to get any financial recourse from the addicts, they generally are unable to hold a job, meth is their full time job.

I have emailed all Senators and State Representatives provided on this site, including Mr. Yoder. I have heard back from William Friend, Marlin Stutzman and Ryan Mishler. The public officials say "this issue is currently being studied by the Criminal Law and Sentencing Policy study committee". They did provide me with a site to find full agendas, minutes of meetings, and links to live webcasts at http://www.in.gov/legislative/interim/committee/clsp.html.

My husband wrote a challenging letter to Carlin Yoder, asking him why Mr. Smiley (synthetic marijauna) is getting so much attention when meth is killing people, tearing families apart, children being displaced from homes, dangerous risk to Police Officers, landlord liabilities, etc. We have not heard back from Mr. Yoder. We have to make this happen! I have made up some flyers with our public officials names and contact info taken directly from this site to pass around. Others can do the same thing, distribute this information to everyone you know!

There is also a plan in the works to start a support group for families and loved ones of meth addicts, please leave acomment here if you think our Community needs a support group.

  3. Yes! I have been looking for a family/friend support group. It is hard to believe that there isn't one in the Warsaw area when we're one of the top meth counties in the country.

  4. A support group is needed! I have seen what the meth can do to the one you love! I have felt the pain and needed someone to turn too.
