May We Borrow your Eyes and Ears?

You've heard the old saying, "power in numbers?"  This holds very true for Meth Watch efforts in our community!

We are encouraged to be hearing from neighborhood leaders in our county who want to take a proactive approach to stopping meth labs in their own backyards.  With all of the "extra eyes and ears" out there to assist law enforcement in spotting suspicious activity, we've got a better chance of identifying and stopping meth labs that threaten our own family's well-being.

Meth trash, meth explosions, potential violence, increased traffic on the side streets near where our children play -   this is NOT the type of environment we want to send our kids into out of our backdoors.  Are you thinking, "Not in MY neighborhood!"   Many people are surprised, upon a meth bust or meth-related fire occurring in their neighnorhood, to learn that meth production was being performed right under their noses.  The problem has spread and continues to spread.

We applaud those that are stepping forward to start a Neighborhood Meth Watch on their blocks.   We are not asking our community at large to get involved in dangerous police activity -  we must leave that part to the trained officers of the Drug Enforcement Task Force.   But lending your "eyes and ears" to the watch and making a phone call to the police when you suspect unusual activity is a strong way to support law enforcement and help to actively fight the meth problem!

To show our support for these initiatives, we are preparing Neighborhood Watch kits which will include signs to post, decals, brochures, videos and an offer to meet with the groups to help them get organized and informed. We not only need neighborhood leaders to step forward, but also volunteers to help organize the materials and deliver them, meet with groups, etc.   Do you want to assist us?

  1. I see in the News paper numerous times of these kind of things going on..It scares me, to know we live in this type of society, and also to meet anyone out there, because you never know what kind of people they really are, most of the time it is when it's too late..that their true colors come out. or there background,or what your really getting yourself into...it's really a shame...

  2. It really is a shame, but when people become aware and empower themselves with knowledge about the problem, it lowers their risk and exposure. With all of our technological advances in this world, we DO live in a society that can be quite scary at times. Regarding meth, if you visit the Indiana State meth website - a link from the www.killingacommunity.com website , you will find many helpful tips on recognizing and identifying the problems before it is too late.

  3. I have dealt with my step daughters mother whom is an meth addict. It is sad that they choose meth over their children. I see the fear in my daughters eyes every day and the heartache she goes through. She got prison time and wrote letters promising her everything and the Sky. And 3 years later they are nothing but lies. She tells her she is clean then as soon as she gets out she's the same ole' dope phen. Not just the community needs to crack down on this but the Judges need to also, exspecially when these mothers put their children through so much. Her mom got out in Febuary for having 3 meth labs, n got it reduced to possesion of meth 2 counts. Then in July got another count possesion meth n a count possesion percursors n only had to serve 9 months. Thats 4 drug felonies in less than 3 years and thats all she got? It's a shame that these woman can do this to their children and continue to get out n do it over and over. What about the children involved, why doesn't the Judge look at that? Empty promises over n over than they get to still continue parenting time...What about drug screens, and paid Supervision by them? This woman should never get her kids bak or get to see them. She had dirty needles laying out, smoking it n making it in front of these kids. Taught these kids how to steal n did it w/ them. Had sex in front of them. And it continues...But I have to sit here and allow it, because of the system....
